My name is Michele, and I just recently moved to Ventura, California from Tehachapi. My passion in life is photography. I have been photographing seriously now for six and a half years, but I was always known to be the one with a camera in my hand.
Every year I travel to at least one new destination. I like to return to previous travel destinations, where I have found that I love to photograph. In that way, I also become very familiar with the area, the lighting and know when the best time is to capture the beauty of nature. I also enjoy experiencing the different seasons every destination has to offer.
I photograph a variety of subjects, with my strong areas being flowing water (waterfalls, river cascades, and any other kind of water), landscape and wildlife. In addition, I also enjoy photographing animals, flowers, equestrian, journalism, nature, people, sports, and travel.
For the last 3 years I have photographed children playing their sport of interest for parents to have memories of those special times. And for the last 4 years equestrian shows/events and a few weddings.
I have been participating in photography courses and workshops to enhance my skills, while learning new material through exposure36 for the past 5 years.
My photos have been published in several textbooks and editorials. They have also been on exhibit at the Tehachapi Art Center and Crossroads Gallery, which is located in Tehachapi, California. I also worked as a freelance photographer and writer for the Tehachapi Newspaper for 4 years.
Over time, I have entered several contests and done well. In February of 2007, I placed first in the professional people division. In 2006, I placed 4th with one of my equine photos out of 28,000 entries from a contest entered. In August of 2005; I won best of show in the professional division along with being awarded four ribbons: two first place, one second place and one third place.
I am a single mother of a special needs child, Kayla. God has given me this precious gift, and Kayla brings joy into my life daily. She travels with me at times and is an inspration to my work.
